Notes

04/08/10 - Love the pattern, love how this is knitting up. The only problem is that it isn’t wide enough. Even though I’ve done five pattern repeats, I’m frogging and starting again with more stitches.

04/10/10 - Cast on again with more stitches - 164 stitches in total. The pattern is a pattern of 8 stitches plus 4, so I have 20 pattern repeats across (8 x 20 stitches) plus 4. The original pattern had 12 repeats which would be enough for a stroller blanket in this weight yarn (on the small side), but this should be enough width for a decent sized baby blanket.

04/30/10 - Picked this project back up again, knit a bit more and then realized that I had accidentally used cream instead of white in some spots. Argh! Frogged it AGAIN and started AGAIN. I’m going to finish this blanket if it kills me.

05/20/10 - Have now finished 13 repeats of colors. Slow going, but I’m determined. The pattern is actually very easy and fast.

7/19/10 - Picked it up again. I’m now up to 19 repeats.

3/28/11 - Now thinking about what kind of blanket to make for my second child…good motivation to finish up the blanket for the first! Up to 27 repeats. My daughter found it and wrapped it around herself today, carrying it around (with dangling yarn and everything). I think she’ll like it, if I ever finish it.

4/3/11 - Finally up to 33 repeats. I was thinking of doing 50 repeats in total, but it looks like the blanket will be a nice size with fewer repeats. Not sure if I’m going to do 35 or 40.

4/8/11 - Ran out of aqua yarn with one row left in the color repeat. Finally got more yarn yesterday. Up to 36 repeats and will do 4 more. I’ve started weaving in ends and will then pick up stitches and knit a border - my least favourite jobs!

Did 40 repeats in total, which turned into a nice big blanket. I picked up stitches along all four sides, doing each side separately in white. After knitting each edge I left the live stitches on scrap yarn. I then went back and picked up all the stitches around the edge of the blanket and knit two rows in lavender. I then finished off with a regular bind off, but at the end I found it too tight and the fabric was puckering. I ripped out the binding (ugh!) and did it again using Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind off (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall09/FEATjssbo.php). The bind off is nice and elastic and doesn’t pucker now.
