My first steeking project ever - it might have been wise to start a little smaller, but oh well :-)
My mum saw a picture of another thistle on pinterest and was in love with it - it was long enough before her birthday, so here I am…
Right now I have less than a week to finish in time and there is one side seam left before I start cutting.

About the cutting: I kinda misunderstood the pattern and used purl stitches for the entire steek, I hope it still works - otherwise all this work was for nothing. (it did work!!) But I’ll secure it extra carefully and hope for the best. Might turn into me praying on my knees though.

To be honest, I’m scared shootless of setting a pair of scissors to an almost finished piece.

To secure the steek, I crocheted along the stitches. As you can see I used the brightest of contrast colors that I had available…(the stitches then disappear underneath the side seams) being nervous about this cutting concept, I wanted to make 100% sure I saw which stitches to cut into :-)

About the pattern: While it’s difficult at first, the pattern really gets easier the further you get along the shawl. (And as soon as you’re actually off DPNs it gets soooo much easier to actually understand where the heck you are in the pattern) there are two mirrorings in each pattern repeat, so you only need to look at the pattern once for each row! So clever!!

As you can see in the last picture, I drew “ladders” into my pattern to indicate the color of the next stitch to pick up. That worked well for me.

This sure wasn’t my last pinneguri or steeking project, so darn proud of the (yet unsteamed) FO
