I cast on 68 stitches for the smaller size and 72 for the larger. Worked well.

With the 72 st cast on, I ribbed 7 rows.
The increase row was (K1M1) 10x (k2M1) 7x to equal 120 stitches.

Worked sst for 12 rows

To start the crown it was K13, K2 tog and worked down from there.

I work all my hats in the round on dp needles.
