December 18th 2019 - I finished the eyes and lining on these on Dec 2 after neglecting the crocheted bodies for about 3 months but now they are done and ready to be stuffed as stockings for this holiday season. I love how thwybturned out and my daughter gets into a frenzied and excited speech about yip yips whenever she sees them.

May 21st 2019 - I’ve crocheted 8 of these - I need to get on with finishing them. Next step is the eyes and lining.

December 18th - I’ve been working away on the red yipyip but needed to figure out if there was some errata because the decreases in the crochet pattern don’t make sense exactly. This was clarified in the comments on the pattern.
Row 23 - sc dec in 2 stitches MEANS 1 decrease using 2 stitches
Row 31 - sc in marked stitch - you are closing the mouth opening by joining the previous row to make it a round, connecting the last stitch of Round 30 to it’s first stitch with a slip stitch, with RS facing.

December 14th - I finished crocheting the body of the pink one yesterday - definitely a 1 day project for just the stitching part. I have all my materials and will finish making stitched bodies for 8 yipyips before doing the rest of the body parts. I haven’t decided if I will crochet all or knit half yet - I feel like crocheting will probably be faster and I still really prefer the texture of the crochet.

December 12th - my friend sent me the BoingBoing coverage of this pattern today and I really fell in love with these. We have the perfect fireplace to hang these. I think today I will head out and get the supplies and this will be my holiday knitting. I don’t typically do crochet projects these days as I am more of a knitter, and a freeform crocheter but I really adore the crochet texture over the knitted one in this case and I think they will hold their shape better with crochet. I’m excited to start these. This also solved the mystery for me for what to use as eyes for puppets I’ve been making - ping pong balls are perfect!
