Okay, so:

In the interest of time, I subbed a simple seed-stitch border (twelve rows at the top/bottom, eight stitches on each side) for the leafy edge.

Similarly, I decided replaced the tulip section of this blanket with something a little more woodland-themed: Alternating owls and leaves. The owl cable was pulled from Who? and the leaf lace was pulled from Apple Leaf Cloth, both of which are worked over eleven stitches with a wee bit of spacing in between. That said, my blanket’s mid-section (worked over 108 stitches) looks a bit like this:

First Section: 8 seed stitches (border), k4, owl, k7, leaf, k7, owl, k7, leaf, k8, owl, k4, 8 seed stitches (border)

Second Section: 8 seed stitches (border), k4, leaf, k8, owl, k7, leaf, k7, owl, k7, leaf, k4, 8 seed stitches (border)

Afterward, chucked it in the wash - hurrah for Cotton-ease! - which smoothed out some of the uneven’ness (pictured).
