Notes

I was delighted when PPQ picked me to be a preview knitter for their upcoming Issue 40 - and even more delighted when my request to knit this sock pattern was granted, because my toes are perpetually cold toes and “MORE SOCKS” is one of my 2022 knitting resolutions.

As for the pattern: Very straightforward and one that I’ll happily knit again. My sock-of-choice has always been top-down, so I was a little nervous at the start of this toe-up set - but Jeny’s Magic Cast On proved to be just that and the shadow heel (an entirely new-to-me method of short rows) was easy to follow.

My only pattern deviation was carrying the yarn during the toe stripes versus cutting it, because I will do anything to avoid weaving in an end.

The fit is excellent (Size 1 for my wide US 7.5 clompers) and proof that ribbing is truly magic. These things are long, thin and hilarious off the foot, but on? Utter and complete sock perfection.

Yarn from the stash circa 2018.
