This project served the dual purpose of a) eliminating some well-aged stash yarn and b) providing a little distraction from a stockinette-heavy sweater-to-be.

Clearly, the Wrong Yarn for this particular hat, as it lacks memory and lessens the “pop” of the various stitch patterns and I suspect that it’s going to g-r-o-w over time. Plus, I didn’t have enough to knit the pattern exactly as-written and eliminated a number of stitch repeats towards the end. BUT STILL…this Southwick has been hanging out in my stash for at least five years. And now it’s gone. Triumph!

Originally knit for my sister, whose football team of choice is very purple and I am not a purple-person - but I think it looks rather adorable on me, no? Regardless of recipient-to-be, I’m definitely going to knit this hat again, as it was a fun knit for the daily commute.

Epilogue: It looked better on the sibling. Rats.
