Notes

…because my other projects had become a mite unwieldy for knitting on the train and “Learn to Knit Socks” had been on my to-do list for several years, so clearly IT WAS TIME.

And I loved everything about this project - the process, the stripey yarn, the cozy-footed aftermath. This was a fine pattern for a first attempt and one that I’ll inevitably use again and again until I have a lovely drawer full of woolen hand-knitted socks.

Notes:

  • I did not have the brainpower to learn a new stretchy cast-on technique. Instead, I held two Size 1 needles together and cast on that-a way. Loosey-goosey and slid onto my foot like a champ.
  • I didn’t do the short-row bit at the toe as I didn’t have a good contrast color on-hand. I’ll definitely incorporate it into future sockies, as I think doing so would add a nice decorative touch and break up the wide expanse of stockinette at the top of the foot.
  • Had I sufficient yarn, this project would have knit up in under a week. As it stood, it took a month for me to obtain a second skein.
  • Mismatched on purpose, because I never wear identical socks - handmade or otherwise.
  • Wow, it really is tricky to get a flattering sock photo, isn’t it?
