Knit in an inexpensive acrylic as my desire to wear this sweater before the season ended coincided with a period of post-holidays budget-tightening. Vanna’s Choice at 30% off? So be it.

Mods:

• Went down a needle size as my gauge on Size 10’s was rather large. On the Size 9’s, my stitch count is 16-stitches over four inches (versus 15-stitches per the pattern), which - given the over-sized fit of this sweater - seemed close enough to me.
• Slipped the first stitch of every row during the knitted-flat portion of the hem for a tidier edge.
• Started the neck shaping a bit early as I prefer a wider neck. My stitchcount went awry just prior - not sure if that was my error or the pattern’s - so had to improvise a bit.
• Stopped seaming the sleeves about 2” from the cuffs to give my hands a little more ease of movement.
• For reference, I have a 34” chest. This is a one-size-fits-most pattern and is nice and loose on me.

I wanted a big comfy sweater and - by God - I got it. Couldn’t be happier.
