Notes

When I visited my nephew, I was working on my star-hat project for another friend. My nephew wanted me to make him a dinosaur. I said I could do it, but it would take me a long time and I wouldn’t finish it before I left town. But I said I could make something smaller. So he asked me to make eyes.

Basically I improvised from what I knew of amigurumi. I think from what I remember, it basically went like this:

Row 1: Start with yellow yarn, make SC knot, then SC 6 in the round
Row 2: SC 2 for every one stitch in the next round. (12 stitches)
Row 3: SC 1, then SC 2 in one stitch - repeat in the round (18 stitches)
Row 4: SC one in every stitch (18 stitches)
Row 5: SC 1, Decrease 1 - repeat to get 12 stitches.

Take the black yarn, and embroider a black circle to cover the first 2-3 rows to make the pupil. Tuck in some poly fill (or I just used cottonballs).

Row 6: Decrease one all around to get 6 stitches
Row 7: SC 1, skip one around: 3 stitches and fasten off.

If I were to do this again, I might try just crocheting the first 2-3 rows in black and changing color, to leave out the embroidery step.
