So… on the hottest week for months, I found a 3/4 ball of a super-soft angora blend yarn in my stash, in this lovely gunmetal shade. I decided it would be a challenge to find a pattern for it!

After a bit of ravsurfing I found this marvellous and super-quick pattern for a lacy beret… and that was that. I modified the pattern slightly, to reduce the number of rows and stitches in the widest part of the hat. (This was partly for fear of running out of yarn but also because I wanted a hat that was not overly slouchy at the back).

The result is lovely! After blocking it is easily big enough and still a little bit slouchy. It is also soooo soft. I will definitely wear this come autumn. As ever, I attached a couple of knitted flowers, just to make it my own :-)

The best part? …the pattern is very simple to memorise and the entire whole hat took about 3 1/2 hours to knit. (I reckon a fast knitter could do it in 2 hours.)
