Notes

My grandma knits these extremely comfortable slippers. I took a pair to England with me, but I’ve worn a hole in one of the toes! I’ll repair it, eventually, but it occurs to me that I can also knit myself a few alternative pairs….

So, last time I visited my grandma, she kindly furnished me with a copy of her pattern. I couldn’t find the exact Patons yarn that the pattern calls for; more frustratingly, the pattern doesn’t supply a gauge!

I’ve ended up with yarn that is slightly too thin, I think, because when I first started it came out quite tiny for a men’s size. To compensate, I’m using 5 mm needles instead of 4 mm, and I’ve increased the stitch counts 1.5 times. So far, this seems to have the desired effect; I’ve made it to the toe of the first slipper, and it looks like it will fit my foot.
