Notes

The body of the blanket is worked entirely in US dc using an “I” hook. Each block is 10 stitches by 5 rows and just a hair over 3 x 3 inches. I edged the blanket with one round of sc and then applied the border using an “H” hook.

Two colors are used in each row, changing color every 10 stitches. The unused color is carried along the row by working over the strand.

I intended to use the hdc rib border from the Red Buffalo Check Crochet Blanket pattern by Daisy Farm Crafts, but the hdc rib was rippling and going down another hook size would have made the border too stiff, so I modified the rib pattern to use sc in place of hdc on the sides while keeping the hdc going around the corners.

I was working from a stash of donated yarns, so the color combination isn’t ideal, but I think it still kind of works.
