I started my squares with a Magic Circle instead of chain ring.

I used the hdc rib border from the Red Buffalo Check Crochet Blanket pattern by Daisy Farm Crafts, modified to use sc in place of hdc on the sides while keeping the hdc going around the corners, and using the same size hook as I used for the squares.
