I used a Turkish cast-on instead of Magic Cast-on and worked this pair two at a time on one 47” US size 1 circular needle by Magic Loop. I used Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off to bind off the cuffs.
I made a small modification to the heel in order to be able to work each heel start to finish one at a time before resuming working in the round. After the short row heel turning the pattern has you work a little more than one full round in order to pick up all the wraps before beginning the heel flap and the accompanying decreases. Instead, I did the following (a variation of the instructions taken from the KnitFreedom adult toe-up faux heel flap pattern for fingering weight):
Next row: K across row, picking up and knitting the wraps together with the wrapped stitches as you come to them and working an m1 increase at the midpoint of the heel stitches. Stop when you have picked up and disguised the last wrap on the knit side. Turn.
Next row: Sl 1, p across row, picking up and purling the wraps with the wrapped stitches as you come to them. Stop when you’ve picked up and disguised the last wrap on the purl side.
I then worked the heel flap portion of the pattern as written, stopping when the last ssk had been done on the knit side. (Upon reaching this point in the first sock, I moved on to sock #2.) After completing the heels of both socks I resumed working in the round by knitting across the instep stitches, working a k2tog to close the last gap at the beginning of the heel stitches and then knitting the rest of the heel stitches to complete the round. The remainder of the socks are then knit according to the original pattern.
