Notes

Delightful knit!

I used intarsia rather than Norwegian. Sometimes I miscalculated where to carry the rose-color or the green so had to tink back a few times. It’s best to carry it a little further rather than not quite far enough, because then the “penalty” is merely a bit of extra 3-yarn thickness which is hardly noticed and not visible anyway.

Pattern suggests using cast-on method by Renate Ehgartner. It is in German, which I don’t understand that well. Instead, I used the cast-on, selvedge, and bind-off methods from Alasdair Post Quinn’s Corvus.

I liked Lina’s chart; it was clear and precise.

The finished size 8” X 8” is perfect for a trivet or pot holder. The yarn I used, 4-ply fingering, is smaller than the suggested 5-ply sport. So it is definitely on the thin side if you are grabbing extra hot items, or putting very hot things on it. If I knit it again, I will use sport weight yarn.

All in all a wonderful challenging project that kept my interest!
