We chose this pattern for the new baby of our friends who had formerly taught English in Japan. Japan has always been close to their hearts and the devastation of the Earthquake/Tsunami devastated our friends. I’m sure the cause that the pattern benefits is more special to these friends than the blanket and that is what makes giving them the blanket so special!

Jordan made the orange crosses and I made the gold ones. You can see that our gauge is a little different, but after I stitched the squares together it didn’t even need blocking! Each cross is centered a little differently on purpose. We ended each of the four sides of the log cabin in various thicknesses of color. Border is 4 garter ridges of green then blue on the short ends and 4 of blue then green on the long ends.
