this is my own pattern for a knit carrot filled with catnip and topped with green feather cord that i designed and made for round 1 of the kitty toy swap. it’s a very quick knit and the feather cord is fussy but immediately satisfying. a good stash buster because it only takes 20yds of worsted weight yarn or can be knit in any other yarn weight (thicker yarn will require more yardage).

the feather cord should be easy to find in fabric stores. it commonly comes wrapped around white cardboard and is sold by the yardage, like fabric. i got mine in san francisco at discount fabrics on irving street for ~$5/yard. according to the label, it’s made out of turkey down. if you can’t find this, look for a feather boa which is pretty much the same thing.

cat tested and approved without cruelty to animals. :)

gauge: 5.5 stitches/inch

final dimensions: the carrot measures 5.5 inches from top to tip and 6 inches around the widest point
