Swatched by casting on 25 sts and knitting in the round. Size 7 was too loose, it didn’t look nice and was closer to 3.25 sts per inch. Did another swatch with size 6 and it looks much better and measures better.

Pattern increase called for M1 to be a backwards loop, I substituted a M1L lifting the bar from the previous row. It doesn’t really change the appearance, but I found purling through the backwards loop difficult and this is easier.
