Notes

I rated the difficulty on this a little higher than it actually is. If you are very familiar with knitting socks you shouldn’t have any trouble, especially if fair isle is not a new experience for you.

The instructions are very pared down though, so if you are a newbie you are going to have a hard time figuring out what exactly you are meant to do.

Try and go with the flow and don’t over think things and you should be able to sail through.

I should add that I had to knit seven beans on the foot in order to reach a length that would fit me. This has been common among other Sock Madness knitters, but does depend on your row gauge. My advice is to check the fit (or measurement if foot is not available) once you’ve finished your sixth bean and decide from there.

Also, don’t slip the stitches when you are knitting the heel flap, because you need to pick up a stitch from every row for the striping to work out.
