I cast on the 72 stitch version on 2.75mm needles. I had concerns about sizing to fit my dad with this knit stitch vs regular ribbing so I went with the largest size.

After knitting the leg I think that was the right course, but I also don’t want it to be too loose on the foot. Since the sole is a place of great wear I went ahead and switched to size 2.5mm needle for only the sole stitches, as I began to turn the heel. This will only snug it up slightly, and is giving a nice solid fabric for the sole. (remind me to take some gauge measurements when all is said and done).

Gauge on smaller needle: 23 rows in 2”, 16.5 sts in 2”
Leg (in pattern) measures 4.25” across one side (36sts)
