Very happy with the striping effect. I ended up chopping out a chunk of grey (see where there’s another band of grey near the top?) to get back to black after a couple rows of alternating grey and grey. Turns out that grey band doesn’t really show when worn anyway, too bad because I like it.

Carefully wove in the ends on the band and start of the black yarn with duplicate stitches so that they won’t show inside or out if the band is folded up or not.

Ribbing pulls in enough for kiddo to wear it, stretches out enough for me to wear it if he decides never to touch the hat again.
