Notes

What a journey this shawl has taken me on. When I started, I had all of my colours - all from stash - laid out, thinking I knew exactly where they would take me. Ha! After the second yarn I abandoned my original path and went digging through my other sock yarn. Colour D was a complete surprise and took me way off track but it felt so right. But when it was time for E, I found myself at the lovely 88 Stitches yarn store. And there I got the copper and the gold, the last of which I think really made me fall in love with this shawl. Before the gold, I had cast on a white shade, ripped it out, then a peachy coral shade, which looked nice with the copper but not with the rest of the shawl. I knit half way through the coral but it was making me angry. It was discordant. Ripped that out. I knit a row of the gold and suddenly the entire shawl made sense. I finished with colour B, which just felt like coming home next to the gold. I am thrilled with the final result.

I used the Icelandic bind off, nice and stretchy for a garter stitch shawl and still decorative.

Colour A: Turquoise Mix (Berocco Ultra Alpaca Fine)
Colour B: Turquoise, light blue, gray, lavender, gold mix (Berocco ComfortSock)
Colour C: “Midnight Rain” Royal Blue, Dark Blue, Purple mix (Skein Queen Exquisite)
Colour D: “Archangel”- wine, lavender, gold, (Malabrigo Sock)
Colour E: “Rose Gold” - copper touched by blush (Sweet Fibre)
Colour F: “167” an aged gold (Katia Concept)
Colour G: back to Colour B again
