I will be donating this to the auction we are holding at my workplace in October to raise scholarship money for the visually impaired students of BC. (Much thanks to Emily Ross for granting me permission.)
I used the I-cord cast off.
Took some better photos today with my coworker’s help as model. Thanks Julie!!
On stich markers and why they saved my life … again: When I started Chart B, I found it very helpful to insert stitch markers between every repeat. Made life much easier and helped me to understand where the leaves were growing from. also, when I ran into trouble, it was far easier to isolate the repeat with trouble and reference another repeat for help in solving what was missed (inevitably a YO from the previous rightside row.)
On blocking and how a novice got the job done: This is my second time blocking lace, and this required a great deal more patience than my first shawl. Once soaked, I danced on it while it was rolled up in a towel, and then began to lay it out on some mats. It took me quite a while and quite a few grumbles to pin it just right. I ended up blocking this in two phases. Phase 1: getting the leaves defined just so and an overall block. Phase 2: repinning and spraying the edging with water, so that the scalloped edges became defined in a way I found pretty.
On this yarn: I am so in love with this colourway. One skein was JUST enough, but it was darn close.
2/10 shawls in 2010.
