Notes

This is the 2nd pattern by talented Canadian designer, Jenny Wiebe (Vangyknits), that I’ve knitted now. I really admire how her designs have a vintage charm but still are hip, easy to knit and comfortable for children to wear and live in. And I have found her patterns to be very clearly written.

I knitted the 12 month size for a full skirt and followed the pattern almost completely. I did struggle understanding instructions for joining the front flap here though and just used my instinct to finish its formation. (When I go back and reread now, it is more clear to me -- so I blame mysel… maybe I was tired or maybe I had to do it first, to get it). Then I took a long break after twisting my skirt’s cast on twice!!… Just lost my knitting mojo. But once I was ready to concentrate, it was a breeze.

The skirt was curling up. Blocking solved that. The FO photos don’t reflect the colour that accurately. The last photo of the yarn itself is the closest. This yarn is a salmon-coloured peach.

I was given these beautiful vintage buttons from a generous commuting friend who watched me knit this off and on over the last couple of months. This dress was made to highlight or show off buttons!!
