body was made with a K hook and cable. the sleeves were made with a double-ended J-hook.
186 fhdcs with J hook.
then for this attempt:
- for the body, the first 5 sts on the right edge and last 6 sts on the left edge alternate between TSS and TRS. the body is TKS
06/22/2016
- 186 fhdcs with J hook.
- using regular J hook, 5 hdc, then {5 fphdc, 5 bphdc} for ribbing. it should end with fphdc; the last 6 sts will be hdc. for 7 rows. for rows 3, 5, 7, the end hdcs were front loop only. for the body, the first 5 sts on the right edge and last 6 sts on the left edge are TSS. the body is TKS

~~on hold while i work on my HollyDay crochet~~

back working on this, but sporadically… still have HollyDay crochet
11/28/2016
Back again. Took time off for HollyDay crochet and NaNo

inc in rows 66,68,70,72,74, and then again in 81,83,85,87,86. Row 90 is where i’ll be splitting for the fronts and back.
12/08/2016
Row 90 was the last row before I split the fabric for fronts and back: 50 sts on each front; 120 for the back.
Early additional calculations:
Approx 60 rows for the fronts/back
Approx 90 rows for each sleeve, which may have the 5x5 ribbing like at the bottom of the sweater itself
Approx 75 rows for a hood which I’m contemplating making instead of a collar
02/08/2017
There will be 50 rows for the fronts and back. starting at row 30 of this split, I’ll be decreasing another 5 stitches over 20 rows at the center back for just a very little bit of shaping - 50 sts on each front; 110 sts for the back
02/14/2017
40 rows for front and back, and no decreases.
r1-25 (91-115): TKS
r26-35 (116-125): “lined up” Tunisian mesh
r36-40 (126-130): TKS
02/18/2017
Sewed the shoulder seams 2/16, and started on the center fronts: 7 rows of TSS, then the bottom 105 sts will decrease 1 stitch per row to create triangles/wings, also worked in TSS. My initial idea is to leave 25 or 30 sts unworked, but I’ll see how that looks when I get there.
02/19/2017
originally with the wings, I was going to sl st the first 20 sts, then create the wings. after a few rows, I decided to take out the sl sts, and start the wings at the top by the collar. however, while the first row was only decreased by 1, the rest of the rows will decrease by two sts. I’ll still leave the last 20 sts unworked to see how that looks.
02/20/2017
the above rows weren’t looking right. new stitches (for the left side, which is worked on the right side, top to bottom: sl st, sl st, 2tog, 2 tog for each row.
(the right side, which will be worked on the right side, bottom to top will end 6 sts from the end, then 2tog, 2tog and leave the last two unworked.)
02/22/2017
Only needed 25 rows for left wing, leaving 70 sts unworked. Started on right wing.
02/26/2017
Wings done! On to the sleeves!

as of 4/24, i’ve completed up to r41
04/30/2017
hood will be 70 rows! almost done! (at the time of this note, i’m at 60 rows completed on the hood!) i had a good suggestion from a lady at my SnB, who said to plan on the side of a larger hood. while at 60 rows, it would be workable, i think it’ll look better with 10 more rows.
05/07/2017
12:20 a.m. - finished!
i did a total of 10 rows of ribbing on the sleeves (it was 5, but i added 5 more)
