happy November! it’s NaKniSweMo - National Knit a Sweater Month! like NaNoWriMo, the goal is also 50,000 - stitches!

i’m twice a rebel this year then:
~i don’t knit, so it’s NaCroSweMo for me
~my preliminary stitch count is nowhere near 50,000 stitches - more like 15,740!

needed to set this aside and work on a blanket for my nephew for chanukah. the sweater will be finished in 2022, and there will be an updated stitch count.

and can confirm, twice a rebel:
~once cause i crocheted it
~once cause my stitch count ended up being only 26,240 (so says my spreadsheet), which was so much more than the preliminary count. i knew it would be more. in the end i extended the sleeves by two rows, did the side rows for more than i’d initially calculated, and had no way to guesstimate the amount of stitches in the seaming together, and the stitches around the neckline and hemline.

i usually say i don’t like to make the same pattern more than once, but i think in this case, I’ll most likely plan to make this again!

notes for making it again:
~make the hem edge on front and back first (see this sweater) - hem edge: sc, sc, sc, clusters, sc, sc, sc; neckline - sc, sc, clusters, sc, sc
~and yes, block all the pieces first before seaming. don’t stitch side seams all the way to the bottom though, leave a short split.
