My gauge is a bit off so I’m casting on for XL in the hope of achieving L.

Note to self: Sleeve gauge even more off despite using larger needles, 22x31. Next time knitting sweater try needles two sizes larger!

Using 3.75mm needles for yoke & body & ribbing on body, 3.25 for neck ribbing, 4 for sleeves, and 3.5 for sleeve ribbing.

Using Grumperina's method for cabling without a cable needle.

Using TECHknitter’s trick for a neater transition from stockinet to ribbing.

Mods

• started on yoke immediately after provisional cast-on,
• knit CDD like this: slip2togkwise, slip1kwise, k3togtbl, made bobbles 1 r smaller,
• picked out provisional CO and knit 5 r twisted rib decreasing 20 st on the first r,
• short rows as pattern and then started alternating skeins,
• using lifted increases in increase section & for body shaping,
• used provisional CO for the underarm stitches,
• sleeves knit 30 r before starting decreases, decreased every 12th r six times + every 6th r five times + 12 r stockinet before changing to CC, cuff 1 r + 5 r twisted rib,
• knit body increases and length as pattern but bottom ribbing 5 r.

Timeline
2020-10-06: Finished yoke. Separated sleeves and continued on body.
2020-10-09: Taking a break from the body to knit the sleeves, starting with the left one.
2020-10-11: Sleeve is tapering too quickly so frogged and started over.
2020-10-14: Finished left sleeve.
2020-10-15: Started on right sleeve.
2020-10-18: Finished right sleeve and continued on the body.
2020-10-25: Finished!
