General
Summertime, and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high
Oh, your daddy's rich and your ma is good-lookin'
So hush, little baby, don't you cry
One of these mornings you're gonna rise up singing
And you'll spread your wings and you'll take to the sky
But till that morning, there ain't nothin' can harm you
With daddy and mammy standin' by
'Summertime' (Porgy Bess, 1934)
Inspired by the Hatteras Cardigan I’m making it a little shorter and using twisted rib.
Using 2 mm needles to pick up st, 2.75 for sleeve ribbing and all i-cord BOs, 3 for evrything else.
Mods
- using lifted increases everywhere,
- to compensate for my different row gauge doing yoke increases every 2nd r 29 times + every 4th r 4 times, last 3 times increasing only in the back,
- used provisional CO for under arm st,
- sleeves started decreases after 6 cm (19 r), decreased 10 times + 1 more decrease r, then 14 r twisted rib, bound off with 2-stitch i-cord,
- body knit 30 cm before starting ribbing, ending on a RS row,
- ribbing picked up st along fronts (in alternately 2 of every 3 & 3 of every 4 r) and neck (in every st) and 1 st on each bottom corner (430 st total with body), 13 r twisted rib, increased in rib 1 st on each side of the corner st every other r = mitered corners, same BO as for sleeves.
