Notes

General

  • Yarn very nice to work with, soft and smooth, with a lovely lustre from the silk. And while the fabric it makes looks nice enough as it is, a very careful blocking - really just smoothing it out - gives it a wonderful drape. If it wasn’t for the unfortunate tendency to split and that two of the nine skeins I used in full had knots, I would give it five stars.
  • Another pattern I’d to print out. It’s an excellent pattern, very clear and conscise, but keeping track of all the numbers is still much easier on paper.
  • Finished and blocked this has a lovely fit over the shoulders! The sleeves grew a little longer during blocking than I’d anticipated but not enough to notice. This will make an excellent indoor-cardigan this winter!

Mods

  • Front edge: lifted first and last stitch on the WS and knitted them on the RS.
  • Body: No short rows.
  • Sleeves: Knitted 25 rows before starting the decreases. 18 decreases in total, the last one with only the first decrease included = 50 stitches. Lenght 41cm.
  • Trims: Seed stitch on 3mm needles. Cast-off in pattern. Front & neck trim 4 rows.

Timeline
2015-07-26: Took a bit of experimenting to find the best way to make a neat front edge. First few cm look a bit messy as a result so I might have to do the front trim anyway.
2015-07-29: Finished the yoke and separated for sleeves.
2015-08-05: Took a break from knitting the body and started on the sleeves instead.
2015-08-06: Didn’t want the upper sleeve too narrow so knitted a bit longer before starting the decreases.
2015-08-09: Wanted longer sleeves so continued with the decreases until I’d the right length. I don’t like garter stitch so I made the trim in seed stitch instead. Unfortunately 3.25mm needles proved to be too large so I’d to unravel and start over with smaller needles. Good thing it was only three rows! Left sleeve finished.
2015-08-10: Started the right sleeve.
2015-08-12: Finished the right sleeve.
2015-08-15: Finished the body and started on the bottom trim.
2015-08-16: Finished the bottom trim and started on the front & neck trim.
2015-08-17: Not satisfied with the neck trim so unraveled all of it an started again. Finished the knitting!
Washed and blocked it.
