I hate patterns like this! It’s completely impossible to adapt to differences in gauge/size etc. Everything written out in a million lines like that isn’t helpful at all, it just makes my eyes cross! Buying it was such a complete waste of money.

Making this sleeveless and without buttons + buttonholes, using one of my mother’s old vests as a template.

The yarn is wonderfully soft but a bit too losely spun to be perfect.

Pattern

• Using lifted increases so one pattern repeat goes: k2tog, k6, lir, k2, lil, k6, ssk = 18st.
• 1 pattern repeat = 7 cm on 3.5mm needles.
• Cast on 327 st = 10st ribbing on each side & 4.5 pattern repeats for each front & 8 for the back.
• Slipping last st of round purlwise with yarn in front + knitting first st.
• No sleeves and no button holes.
• Decreased for neck and armscyes to match template.
• Used 2mm needle to pick up and knit stitches for neck- and armscye ribbing = 181st for neck and 112 for armscyes, knit 9 rows.

Timeline
2016-10-22: Finished the ribbing and started on the chevron pattern.
2016-11-07: This will have to go into hibernation until I’ve finished all the Yule knitting.
2016-12-05: Almost finished with the Yule knitting so I’m starting on this again.
2017-01-26: Started bindoff and decreases for armscyes. Adding new yarn and knitting both fronts & back at the same time.
2017-01-28: Started neck decreases on the fronts.
2017-01-30: Finished all decreases, stitched shoulder seams, picked upp and started neck ribbing.
2017-01-31: Finished neck ribbing and started on the first armscye.
2017-02-01: Finished both armscyes. Finished! Just waiting for it to dry before taking photos.
