Pattern as written felt unnecessarily complicated so I mostly ignored it and just used the charts with my usual cuff-down-heel-flap-and-side-gussets sock.

Using Grumperina's method for cabling without a cable needle.

Mods

• cuff ribbing k2tbl p2 for 10 r,
• knit 10 plain r before starting chart A,
• decreases right leg chart A r 26 k9 k2tog k14 k2tog = 70 st, chart B r 6 after pattern k2tog k13 k2tog = 68 st, left leg chart A r 26 after pattern k4 k2tog k14 k2tog, chart B r 6 k9 k2tog k13 k2tog,
• heel flap worked on needle 1 & 2 for right sock and needle 3 & 4 for left, knit 32 r (chart D r 1-31 + r 2), knit first and slip last st on each r, round heel, EOP during heel turn and for another 21 r, picked up 17 st for gusset and knit through the back loop on the first r, decreased to 32 st on sole and on r 22 decreased to 32 on instep too,
• foot knit chart B seven times + r11-12 two times,
• toe decreased every other r until 36 st left then every r until 8 left, cut yarn and pulled through.
