Notes

General
MC Peachy Keen, CC Sultan

Didn’t like the flimsy and limp fabric I got with the pattern gauge. Prefer a rather less see-through sweater grin Going to use the numbers for size 2X which will hopefully give me a size L.

Tried Lucy Hague’s invisible provisional cast-on. Very quick and easy.

My stranded colourwork is just getting looser and looser. Had to change to smaller needles!

Can’t really see any difference between the MC skeins but just to be on the safe side I’m alternating every r on the body. Not bothering on the sleeves though.

Neck ribbing & bind-off 2.75 mm needles, colourwork on yoke & body + ribbing & BO on body & sleeves 3.00mm, plain stockinet on yoke & body + colourwork on sleeves 3.25, plain stockinet on sleeves 3.5.

TCKAL cast-on post: #771

Mods

  • used provisional cast-on for neck, after picking up st knit 4 r, changed to 2.75mm needles and knit ribbing k3p1 for 5 r, bound off with 2-st i-cord,
  • used German shortrows (double-stitch),
  • before starting colourwork moved BOR 32 st forward because the back of the shoulder is the least visible place for this, NOT the middle of the back,
  • knit 10 plain r on yoke after finishing colourwork before separating body and sleeves,
  • used provisional cast-on for the underarm sts,
  • after separating moved BOR on body 11 st forward to the right side, made body slightly longer and ended with a bit of colourwork: r 49-42 of yoke chart (with a few changes), knit 1 r, knit ribbing k3p1 for 12 r, 2-stitch i-cord BO.
  • want the sleeves a bit more narrow: knit 17 r and then decreased 2 st every 8th r until 82 st left then every 10th r until 70st left, knit 10 more r, knit r 49-42 of yoke chart (with some changes incl. decreases) 60 st left, knit 1 r, knit ribbing k3p1 for 6 r, 2-stitch i-cord BO.

Timeline
2019-04-30: Wasn’t happy with how the colourwork was developing or how wide the neckline was so decided to frog and start over.
2019-05-01: Started over with 3.25mm needles.
2019-05-06: Took a break from the yoke and finished the neckline.
2019-05-11: Finished colourwork.
2019-05-12: Separated body and sleeves and continued working on the body.
2019-05-31: Took a break from the body to knit the sleeves, starting with the right.
2019-06-04: Finished the right sleeve and started on the left.
2019-06-08: Finished the left sleeve and started on the body again.
2019-06-12: Finished!
