Used 2.5 mm needles for first 30 r and 2.25 for the rest of the sock.

• cuff & leg chart A r 1-36 + chart B r 1-45,
• heelflap 32 r stockinet decreasing 1 st on the first r, round heel,
• gussets picked up 19+1 st on each side, decreased every second r until 34 st left on sole,
• instep chart D r 1-25 + chart E r 1-24 + 5 r increases & decreases as in The Lady of Rivendell (no increases on last r = 35 st on instep) + 30 r stockinet decreasing 1 st on the last r,
• toe decreased every second r until 28 st left then every r until 8 left,
• mirrored cable crossings on second sock.
