Managed to make Latvian braid without having to look it up, go me!
The yarn handling when setting up the gusset made no sense to me and neither did moving the BOR. So I improvised.

Mods

• used ordinary LTCO since I find it easier to pick up stitches from the cast-on edge than fiddling around with extra needles,
• using 2.25mm needles for all plain stockinet rounds except the outside of the cuffs,
• didn’t like the way the leg pattern don’t start on the same row as the cuff so added the first 3 cuff rows to the leg,
• decreased 4st for heel flap but didn’t decrease gusset st for that amount = 35st sole,
• knit first and slipped last st of heel flap,
• continued slipped st pattern on knit rows during the heel turn,
• knitted heel-flap 36 rows & picked up 20st on each side for gusset & knitted picked up st through the backloop,
• did not move BOR before starting gusset,
• didn’t bother with the markers for the gusset decreases,
• knitted 4 repeats of instep chart before starting toe chart.

Timeline
2017-04-28: Finished first sock and started second.
2017-05-02: Finished! Waiting for them to dry.
