Notes

This worked up BEAUTIFULLY, quickly, was not boring, and has received TONS of compliments!

Red Heart rates this difficulty as intermediate, but I found it quite easy. It had enough variance to keep it interesting and fun, but is the type of pattern I love that I can put down/pick up without having to re-count or look back at pattern.

Throw per pattern is 52” x 52” (8 squares x 8 squares plus their plain border) so each square = 6”.

For baby, I made mine 6 squares x 7 squares which is 36” x 42” for the afghan itself. Then I added 3 layers of crocodile stitch border around. Each layer of croc stitch is 1”, so the completed border will add 3” around, making complete afghan size of 42” x 48”.

For the afghan: For each square, I started with the “Adjustable Ring” (sometimes called “magic ring”) for the beg center of each motif instead of the beg chain called for, because I wanted the ring closed instead of open.

For the crocodile stitch border:
I wanted a different border, so fashioned the crocodile stitch border around it. By trial and error I came up with the counts on how to size and apply a croc stitch border. Also, after I made this one, I figured an easy way to alter the rows so the corners don’t have to be made separately View my blog for details.
