Doing this wonderful square was like a mystery - I’d start a new round and think “I wonder how she’s going to get out of this one?” referring to the designer and how she was going to be able to advance the design from the previous row. Fabulous, just fabulous!

Pattern very well written, and while this is not a difficult square, this is a complicated pattern to write!

SS yarn and G hook makes a 9” square from 12” patterns.

Worked pattern for 12”, through Rnd 11. Since I had to add one more row to get to 9” I subbed the following Rnd 12 and added Rnd 13:

Rnd 12: * (Dc, ch 2, dc) as corner, hdc x 10, sc x 12, hdc x 10, * rep betw * 4 times (34 sts, 4 ch-2 sps per side)
Rnd 13: * (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) as corner, hdc x 34, * rep betw * 4 times (38 sts, 4 ch-2 sps per side)
