Cannot bother with the cable (first, I didn’t know it had a mistake. Than I found the errata on internet, but was already put off by it.)
However I really like the sweater and the size of the hood so I’ve decided to go through anyway, on smaller needle (from 6mm to 4,5mm) and yarn (worsted, not chunky), replacing the cable pattern with simple double moss stitch bordered by slipped knits. Being around 40-42 size, choosing the largest stitch count seems to be all right.
It’s turning out rather neat, actually. Pondering adding some crocheted adornments after finishing it, some flower touch, maybe. Maybe not.
