Notes

My dear friend Jane gave me some yarn with which she had been wanting to make a vest like my Elaine Benes. Now I have sock yarn and a boy who kind of wants some socks. :) Lets see if I can get these ones right on the first try!

I think this yarn is alpaca! What a lucky boy!

This is really a pretty sock! It will look perfect on my boy’s handsome feet. :)

He says the top of the sock is awfully tight, but once it’s on, it’s mostly okay. I wonder what I can do to make it fit a little better…? Maybe I’ll make it a size larger. It looks great! I didn’t make it quite long enough in the leg, but that’s an easy fix. The next sock will be perfect. ;)

I frogged it because the boy said it was too tight along the top of the foot and I couldn’t figure out what that meant (and I wanted to fix some stupid mistakes). Making a size larger was too much, so I finally discovered he needs a gusset for his high instep. I improvised one by increasing 8 stitches over 16 rows at 6” in the purl section at the beginning and the end of the first half of the sock. I’m now decreasing it the same way after I’ve finished the heel. Hopefully that will work.
