Looks like I’ll only need half a skein of contrast, so I’m hoping I have enough madtosh sock left in lettuce from Prairie Grass.

I wouldn’t have had enough, so I got a skein from the Madtosh group.

Just started and already messed it up. :P I did my m1Ls wrong. You’d think, after doing so many, I’d know what the hell I’m doing, but I think throwing is messing with my head. That’s right, I’m knitting this guy English. I’m hoping it will loose the gauge a little and make my stockinette pretty and even. I’m starting over. I’m going to nix the garter edge. I dislike it greatly. I may bump up to 9s too. I can’t find my 8s! I can’t have THAT many projects on the needles, can I?

I was too lazy to switch needle sizes, so I started over with the stockinette edging and correct m1Ls. It’s gorgeous! English knitting is so…easy-going! I can’t say it’s any more relaxing than Continental, but, man, it just makes me feel like a bona-fide knitter. Don’t take that to mean I’ll be switching up my style permanently! Continental is still way faster. I may use English as my shawl-go-to, though, because the resulting fabric (though a little uneven in the early spots) is just as airy as I’d hoped.

It came out a couple inches bigger in both directions, which is definitely a change I’m not used to! Now to block it and photograph it.
