My 100th project!
I spotted this hank sitting so innocently on top of one of our display islands, beckoning me to buy it. It’s the only skein of this colorway we had, so when I came in on Monday (saw it Thursday), I bought it because no one else had. Rikke is so perfect because I really need a fitted hat this winter and it’s about the only thing I can make with 150 yds of variegated dk. I hope I have enough yarn to finish! I found one hat out of all of the finished objects that claims to have used one skein of Silk Blend without any mods. We’ll see!
I’m doing a knit stitch column up the back of the hat so the garter jog isn’t so obvious. I think I’ll switch to 7s after 10 garter rows of the band, which may save me a few yards? Airier stitches mean less yardage…right?
I used every inch of this skein and a few inches of the similarly-colored FlockSock Yarn I used in my Milky Way shawl. There was a lot of fudging.
Mods (all to save yarn):
-only 10-ridge brim
-knit to ~6.5-7” before decreasing
-did the last three rows of decreases (to 40sts) on both purl and knit rows
-finished with 20 sts
When I make another, I’ll get 200+ yards of a pretty yarn. This yarn is absolutely heavenly, though. And it’s still a bit slouchy! I may block it lightly for more slouch.
Blocked it. It’s genius. :) That means I’ll need new pictures!
The last photo is post-block.
