I suggest you use a long stitch holder (or whatever you have on hand) running it through the strips to keep the first set of strips from twisting.

I found that after I had knit the first join, somehow the strips twisted around (I really don’t know how to explain how) and it took me a while to get them back to the way they were supposed to be.

Other than that, this was a fairly simple pattern.

The yarn I used resulted in a super soft cowl. The strips seem a bit more narrow and not as stiff looking as in the original pattern photo.
