Gonna make these for my sweetie. Gonna spin the yarn myself. Using the BFL fiber I indigo dyed lin October.


My husband and I are a car-free household, and he rides to work and back in our drippy northcoast weather almost every day. Earwarmers for Christmas; what more could he want?


10/22/08: Start date = day I dyed the fiber for the yarn. Spun week of October 13-17. Knitting started October 20. Heavy modifications to pattern due to gauge issues. Taking to Purl ‘n Hurl tonight to work on.


12/12/08: Hells bells! Only 13 more day ‘til Xmas, and I have to start over ‘cuz the 1st one is tooo big. Getting on that tonight.

Due to my different gauge, I CO 36 sts and did my decreases 3 sts from edge rather than 5.

I wish this pattern gave finished dimensions; it would help those of us doing pattern mods due to yarn gauge. PMed the designer & requested the dimensions.


12/13: Received dimensions from designer:
“five inches tall, six inches wide at the widest point (needs to be wide enough to go across both pieces of helmet strap), and 2.5 inches wide at the narrowest point.” Thanks, Amy!
