This was my first foray into cables, and initially they gave me fits; turns out I was reading the chart backwards, so all my cables are upside down (hence the name).

I started this on a backpacking trip in summer ‘06, and got it 85% complete by the early fall; now it languishes in the large pile of UFOs in my fiber room. I hate picking up stitches and seaming, which is what is left. Gah!

Pattern Mods: upside down cables (see above) and One Row Buttonholes.

11/4 FINALLY picked up all 316 stitches; left button band complete, right band halfway.

11/5 Did the buttonholes today; took 3 tries, but they look great. Did the one in the pattern & didn’t like it, so switched to the 1-row buttonhole; much better. (This was my 1st project w/ buttonholes).

11/6 Started seaming… (shudder) Note the highfalutin’ clips I used to hold seam together: can you say ‘Dollar Store’?!? Seriously, these work great, they’re just tiny (1/2”) aligator clips for your hair. Work as well as the high-priced clips specifically made for the job, and waaay cheaper.

1/16 Now I have a deadline to finish: meeting Raveler Meggle to knit on 1/18, and we’re both going to wear our finished CPHs. So I took it to Stitch ‘n Bitch tonight, and got another seam done. All that’s left is the sleeves!

1/17 I DID IT! It is no longer the UFO-that-will-not-die, but the FAVE FO! I finished tonight, and I love this sweater. Fits perfectly, comfortable, flattering… I learned lots, and highly recommend it. Can’t wait to wear it tomorrow when I meet Meggle.

1/18 Doh! Meggle had to cancel our knitting date. :( Poor thing, her pooch is under the weather, so she postponed her trip to Humboldt. But I’ll be wearing it tomorrow when I get together to spin.

1/19 DOH! No spinning today. :( So I was gonna wear it to my friend’s bday party tonight, but we didn’t swing a carpool, so didn’t attend. Tomorrow, when I get together with Beth, surely.

1/20 Seriously? Still no occasion to wear it at and get a photo op? Beth didn’t call, I couldn’t reach her, so no knit date today. I’m just gonna take my own picture tomorrow.

1/21 Went ahead and did my own photo shoot. All dressed up with nowhere to go, so I just went into the backyard. Bye CPH!
