Notes

I am giving this to my sister for her birthday; we have a, let’s say, troubled relationship, so as I knit I put as much healing energy into it as I could.

My 1st F&F project. Knit for the Shawls-for-all KAL in the C2S2 group. Here’s what I learned:

  • Mods: I added K2tog, YO row + knit row before BO (thanks, revknits!) & I omitted the chain border along the top because I ran out of yarn
  • Easy-peasy to memorize the pattern, so no stitch markers required - yay!
  • Uses tons of yardage; I got 4 repeats from 920 yards, fewer than I expected & had only 6 yds/1.5g left over!
  • In order to avoid massive pooling & keep the stripes relatively similar in thickness, I had to join yarn from multiple skeins; lots of ends to weave in (150 joins, 300 ends, to be exact!). I think it would look better with thicker stripes than mine too. #yarnchoicefail

Dimensions:

  • unblocked = 60” across top, 44” along ea. side
  • blocked = 70” across top, 50” along ea. side

Notes:

4/24/11: Blocking!

4/23/11: Still weaving in ends…

4/22/11: Spent Earth Day weaving in ends.

4/21/11: Shit. I thought I could just eke out enough for the BO, but after reading other Ravelers project notes realized I need some yardage for adding crochet to the top edge. Decided to just omit the top edging. Finished binding off & started weaving in ends.

4/20/11: Finished 4th (& final) 36 row repeat. Rows complete: 198. All that is left is binding off, weaving in ends, & blocking.

4/19/11: Finished through Row 85. (Rows complete: 191)

4/18/11: Finished through Row 80. (Rows complete: 186)

4/17/11: Started 4th repeat. Finished through Row 68. (Rows complete: 174)

4/16/11: Purchased a longer (40”) set of circs; 1st time w/ Addi Lace needles, & I’m not sure I like them as well as regular Turbos: they seem stickier. Finished through Row 92; end of 3rd repeat. (Rows complete: 162)

4/15/11: Finished through Row 82. (Rows complete: 152)

4/14/11: Thought I’d be done today, but after finishing 2 balls of yarn, I’ve realized it isn’t nearly big enough. So, on to another ball (or 2). Finished through Row 70. (Rows complete: 140)

4/13/11: Finished 2nd repeat, started 3rd. Finished through Row 60. (Rows complete: 130)

4/12/11: After fucking up Rows 81-83, frogged, re-knit, & finished through Row 82. (Rows complete: 116)

4/11/11: Starting 2nd repeat of rows 57-92. Finished through Row 71. (Rows complete: 105)

4/9/11: Switched to knitting from 2 balls on Row 75. Finished through Row 90. (Rows complete: 90)

4/8/11: Shit, that mistake was all the way back in Row 57, so had to frog all the way back, one st at a time. :( Starting again at Row 57. Lesson learned? Count sts more often! Finished through Row 66. (Rows complete: 66)

4/7/11: Reached Row 69, discovered an error in Row 62 - doh! Frogged back. Finished through Row 61. (Rows complete: 61)

4/6/11: After giving up on Listra while I wait to hear back from the designer, I’m moving on to this shawl for the c2s2shawlsforall-along. Using US4 needles ‘cuz that’s what I had on hand. Finished through Row 50. (Rows complete: 50)
