I didn’t really follow Laurence’s instructions on this project, but it was certainly inspired by her beautiful Yarn Necklace.

I spun the experimental yarn in August 2010 at GGFI while TAing for the art yarn spinning class, spontaneously demonstrating to workshop participants some of the techniques they were learning: supercoils, beehives, crescents, & beading. I used discarded scraps & leftover bits.

I made my ‘Collier’ 28” in circumference for a closer fit, & I didn’t spin extra ‘vanilla’ yarn at the end for wrapping, but tied the ends together & wrapped with some pencil roving I had lying around in my stash to cover the join & mimic the look of the prototype.
