11/19/09: I started this cowl last night. Apparently, I’m in a cowl knitting mood. I’m going to try really hard to keep this for myself.

The yo increase between the knit and purl stitches was a bit tricky. I couldn’t find any videos of such an increase on youtube, so I improvised. I’ll find out soon enough if I’ve picked the correct method.

I am knitting this cowl on size 8 bamboo circular needles, you know, the same needles I cursed when working on the houndstooth scarf. The bamboo seems to do alright with chunky acrylic yarn. I haven’t the slightest clue why Caron’s Simply Soft causes a proverbial traffic jam.

I am starting to return to my acrylic roots. While natural animal fibers may be more environmentally friendly and luxurious, they are also expensive and allergy inducing. Animal hair/fur/whatever makes me itch! That stuff isn’t coming anywhere near my neck.
