Adding beads as follows:

Row 17 of setup and row 8 of main pattern: knit first stitch. Place bead on this stitch. (You may have to slip it back and forth, whatever works for you). Knit 2nd stitch and bind off like it says.

On row 1 of main pattern: work like it says and place bead on last st of that row before working it.

I don’t know how I’m going to add beads on the other side yet.

Beads on last row (bind off): begin with bead on first cast on stitch as for rows 17/8 above; bind off 8, place bead on stitch just worked, bind off 2 more. Repeat.
