Notes

Want a comfortably snug brim but loose and airy body for our hot/humid summer climate and possible chemo cap use.

After brim, switch to US 7 needle, k 12 rows.
Double strand: K one row, P one row,
switch to US 6 needle, K 2 rows of contrasting dk or worsted yarn (from Yarnia - silk and wool),
K one row single strand, P one row double strand.
Switch to US 7 needle, k 9 rows,
repeat the contrast band.

The shape came out not very nice… I’ll have to wear it pushed back so that the crown’s squareness is slouched back.

Also proportions went wrong: the contrast band starts after too wide a swath of plain stockinette, so the interest is shifted back away from my face.
IDEA: get some gold and wooden buttons to sew on in the too-plain band above the brim.

Not the pattern’s fault, but the yarn is SLIPPERY! on wooden needles, anyway. Especially the dpns to bind off. Ugh!
