Notes

Need not too big a beret, of a light-gauge yarn for indoor wear in an autumn/winter palette. Matches a karius scarf (“Lizard Love”) knit in Year 1.

First top-down hat. Means putting up with dps, which is not my preference (putting it mildly).

Since I want a loose knit in sport-gauge, CO with US 5=3.75 mm, then at the 48>64 st increase switched to US 7=4.5, which is the size needle I used with this yarn previously.

I stopped increasing at 144 st, which controlled the hat’s width to just control my winter/spring hair (= quite full). Also - went to circular needle at 64 st - a bit of a stretch, but the sooner I can get off five dps, the better!

Made fewer rows (will write up mods soon), and it’s still taller than I’d anticipated.

I-cord bindoff was fun, easy, and gratifying as other Ravelers have promised, thanks to a visual-only YouTube instructional video that made it clear. Used same-size needle to give the I-cord some bulk. Still need to look up solutions for the last few stitches, as my ad-lib is unsatisfactory.

Very, very cute! Photos to come.
